I was very excited when I woke up this morning and daycare was NOT cancelled! There’s a big storm about to hit us that has been creeping up the east coast dumping snow on it’s way. We are set to get 3-5 inches today, but it’s just now starting to snow and the worst won’t hit until noon-5PM. It’s going to make for a messy commute home for all of Boston – but not us. Living near work really has its perks.
Avery’s daycare will probably close early, but for now, they are open and my little guy was happily munching on breakfast and waving at me when I left him this morning.
We’ve have FOUR snow days so far – crazy! Everyone complains and it does make juggling home and work a challenge, but there are perks to having a very snowy winter…
An adorable sledding hill in a park loaded with kids and families. I dressed Avery up and we trekked up the hill. Avery was bright eyed and talking about ‘Sliding.’
Avery has been sliding with Grampy and our family at their house in VT, but we’ve never been to a sledding hill before!
Ready, set, go! We slid down the hill pretty fast. I used my hands and feet to slow us down a little. There were bumps and I said things like ‘weee’ and ‘yay’ and Avery was too cute, repeating it and his voice vibrating over the bumps. He would laugh and squeal. When we got to the bottom and stopped, he said ‘Again!’ and had the happiest look on his face!
Avery’s squeals on each ride down got me every time. And as soon as we got down, he wanted to do it again!
I couldn’t keep from smiling and laughing… such a great time!
Making it to the bottom was high-five deserving! Avery even got snow in his face a few times and laughed it off. I forgot hoe much fun sledding was as a kid – now I remember!
And when we were all pink cheeks and snow covered, we headed in for some hot chocolate and an early dinner. After that, we played legos at Pat’s. Pat lives with his friend and his family and we’ve been over a couple times. They are always so welcoming and bring out the kids old toys for Avery to play with.
This time, Avery wasn’t the only one playing. We were all on the carpet making something out of legos. Avery’s favorite was a pizza truck that looked like an ambulance that he loved driving around and crashing, then I had to rebuild it many many times!
They also have a dog, Buddy. Avery loved playing with him and ‘hiding’ from us in a mini fort on the couch.
See, winter can be fun! A little snow and cold weather won’t keep us from having a good time!
Everyone on the east coast – stay safe, and after the storm is done – go play outside!!!
